The History of Wireless Cisco Software

Telepresence and Holography / Holograms - November 2008
Editor’s viewpoint on their differences, likenesses and future...
We all just recently viewed an historic CNN holographic interview on an historic Election Night. CNN stated this type of imaging has never been done before on National TV and I believe that. I haven’t seen anything like it. The live interview caught me by surprise and sure had the “wow” factor attached to it didn’t it? Here’s a link to the actual interview.
CNN Hologram Video
The question now has to be asked. Is it Telepresence?
I’m no expert on the subject but I’m going to throw my hat into the ring, go out on a limb and say yes, I believe it is. Although I know many video conferencing purists are rolling their eyes and grabbing their guns right about now with my statement.
While I do know that Telepresence still hasn’t been universally defined (Houston, we have a problem), here’s how I see it…. Broken down to its simplest form - “tele” (through electronic means) and “presence” (present). This is how I’m justifying my opinion by lumping holography and Telepresence together. Just as Telepresence is surely an offshoot of video conferencing, holographic imaging (like we viewed on CNN) surely has to be considered an offshoot of Telepresence. The interviewer was “telepresent” from Chicago and beamed into the CNN Election Headquarters. She was most assuredly - “telepresent”. There was negligible latency, the imaging was fantastic and both interviewers were rehearsed on what they would say. I’ve just recently read that CNN actually “downgraded” the experience to make it “movie” quality and not as good as it could have been. Maybe they thought us mere mortals would be shocked if they showed their complete hand. I have a feeling it was so big to them, they didn’t want it to get upstaged by the historic election. I’m willing to bet we’ll see the “true” power of this technology in the upcoming weeks and months when they can put the pedal to the medal and show it off without having it sidetracked.
What an amazing time for this technology (all differences and opinions aside). Telepresence Doctors, nurses, teachers, schools and healthcare (healthpresence) will benefit from the recent gains in this state-of-the-art industry whether holograms, Telepresence or holography. Airlines also have to see the threat to a portion of their business travel. Hell, who wants go through security and fly to Miami for a two-hour conference when you can look them in the eye via Telepresence?
Beam me up Scotty! Simply amazing…!

Many individuals and business chose wireless Cisco software for their communication and networking needs. Cisco software and wireless devices sell under several different names including Linksys and Scientific Atlanta. The company has been expanding into the home market over recent years with VoIP technology and routers designed for personal use.
Len Bosack and Sandy Lerner founded Cisco Systems in 1984. The company worked on a multiple protocol router in the beginning. Although it was not the first company to offer a router to businesses, Cisco was the first to sell multi-protocol routers which allowed computers to communicate with each other even if they were using different protocols.
The name Cisco came from an abbreviation of San Francisco. For a time the letter c was wrote in lower case letters, making the name cisco Systems. The logo for the company is taken from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. They released a new version of the logo in 2006 for a sleeker look.
The company went public in the early 1990s and the founders left the company. Since that time, Cisco has acquired a number of companies, including Cerent Corp., Scientific Atlanta, and Linksys. The company has been ranked one of the most valuable companies in the world since the turn of the twenty-first century. In 2007, it had a market cap of $180 billion.
Through the acquisitions it?s made along with internal development, Cisco has become a major player in many different computer communications and networking solutions. Some of these areas include Ethernet switching, VoIP, ATM networking, remote access, and security. The products and services have been marketed not only to businesses but also to individuals for home use.
Today, Cisco has been partnering with different providers to bring voice over IP to businesses and has also been moving into the home market. They?ve worked with providers like Skype and Yahoo to integrate the VoIP with cordless and wireless phones. They?ve also worked with some cable internet providers to provide integrated equipment for those users as well.
Due to their highly respected position in the computer industry, Cisco has created a curriculum of courses for professionals that educated them about network solutions and Cisco services and products. The company offers a number of different certifications for those who complete the curriculum. They?ve also established computer academies in a number of foreign companies to teach individuals about computers and software.
Wireless Cisco software has become highly respected for both businesses and personal use. When you need to set up a wireless network or use VoIP equipment, you should look into Cisco for its solutions. With advancing technology, Cisco looks to remain at the top of the field for some time to come and you?ll have the assurance of dealing with a well respected company.
